Phoenix Bodies / Raein - Split (2004)

Genre: Screamo/Post-Hardcore/Powerviolence

Tracklisting:
1. Phoenix Bodies - Sense is Out of Style
2. Phoenix Bodies - The Future of Eating
3. Raein - Endless Tourlife

This split opens up with mad grind-like part of Phoenix Bodies, fast and brutal. Then it calms down - Raein's track is rather atmospheric, a little bit post-rocky I might even say. The song is maybe too long a bit, it could end at 4:30 moment, but then the guitars play intro back again, some strange noises loom in the distance, then they show up and are explicit and poof, the end. The whole split is nice, though, no doubt.

Raein - Il N'y A Pas De Orchestre [2003]

Genre: Screamo/Post-Hardcore

Tracklisting:
1. The Tree
2. The Kking Is Dead
3. Il Ny A Pass De Orchestre
4. From 3 To 1 In 2 And 4
5. Tetraedycal Fluctuating Faster Than The Speed Of Ligs
6. Miss Kelly Dathe
7. Artmachine Observation Tower
8. Tigersuit
9. She Wears My Blood
10. I Was Fine Before You Came

Raein's second LP, certainly their best one. The new Nati Da Altri Padri after reuniting haven't caught my ear. This album quite similar to their split with mighty Daïtro - very intense and violent. Tigersuit is the biggest killer here.

Raein & Daïtro - Split 10'' [2004]

Genre: Screamo/Post-Hardcore

Tracklisting:
1. Raein - Faithless
2. Raein - Parte 1
3. Raein - New day scenario
4. Raein - Blue lines
5. Daïtro - Au about de mes lèvres
6. Daïtro - Un bateau ivre
7. Daïtro - À chaque fois

OK, it's actually my favourite screamo work ever, so not many words this time. Really, Raein's part on this split just kicks ass. It's heavy, it's violent, passionate, emotional, chaotic, atmospheric and fucking melodic and thrilling at the same time. Faithless is simply the best emo track of all time. OF ALL TIME. Just sayin'.

Saetia - Demo Cassette [1997]

Genre: Screamo/Post-Hardcore

Tracklisting:
1. The Burden of Reflecting
2. Closed Hands
3. Venus and Bacchus
4. One Dying Wish

One of the first recordings by legendary band on American screamo scene Saetia, containing cult song Venus and Bacchus. Some say these are the best songs of their discography, but I haven't listened to them enough to claim so. It's not as melodic as European screamo representatives though, but just classic.

Suis La Lune - Heir [2008]

Genre: Screamo/Post-Hardcore/Post-Rock

Tracklisting:
1. With Wings Of Feathers and Glue
2. September Gave Us Awkwardness, October Gave Me Nothing
3. The Greatest Actors Keep On Acting Offstage
4. Can't Believe I Spelled It Out To You

This EP is an awesome pack of stunningly emotional screamo with a post-rocky feel, one of my favourites in genre. Sounds like a mix of fast tempos and melody of La Quiete and aggressiveness and chaos known from Raein. The moment at the beginning of Can't Believe I Spelled It Out To You is just magical.

Tristan Tzara - Da Ne Zaboravis [2002]

Genre: Screamo

Tracklisting:
1. Ah Feel Like Ah Said
2. Schizophrenia
3. A Mad Gleam
4. Song 4
5. Untitled #3
6. Tarotplane
7. Come On Jane

Sorry for the last almost 10 days of idleness, I've just had a lot of workload and I've been trying to cope with that... And by the way, I've managed to finish my next mix (technically reaaally better than the previous one, grime-like) - if you want some chilly atmospheric dubstep, go for it!. I've heard that maybe the connections between tracks are not top-notch (come on, that's my third effort to make such thing), but the tracks-choice is certainly accurate and simply very good. Enjoy!

Anyway, I'm gonna come back to posting some pretty albums every day or two. This time I'll present a few great underground European screamo bands, especially from France and Italy (I guess not only today, I've been a big fan of this style of music recently - so expect some downright cool screamo albums next few days).

Who first? Tristan Tzara, Germany-based screamo collective consisting of members from bands like Kobra Khan or Louise Cyphre. This CD is an EP, lasting hardly ten minutes, but those are probably one of the most brutal and emotional ten minutes of whole hardcore and emo genre. Not-so-good production just gives it additional weight and feel of violence. If I was to compare Tristan Tzara to another band, I would say - Orchid! Any more conviction needed?

04 Sharp Darts (01:33)

11 The Irony Of It All (03:30)
12 Weak Become Heroes (05:33)
13 Who Dares Wins (00:34)
14 Stay Positive (06:16)

Truly, this is one of the best hip hop albums I've ever listened, also one of the weirdest. The vocal actually isn't a rap, it's a kind of melorecitation. At first, I couldn't understand the music - for me it was a strange mix of cool backgrounds and rap that was totally out of the music. But after sometime I realised that Original Pirate Material makes me perfectly relaxed and the music itself is great, too. After In The Middle remix I started to admire Mike Skinner's voice and accent - very soft, truly English. Strongly recommended!
