2-11 Never Answer The Phone (23:15)
2-12 I Live To See You Smile (4:28)
2-13 Sadness Will Prevail Theme (11:25)

And that's one of the most crazy, mad, driven away and so metal albums ever created. What an awesome cover! About the album itself - post-hardcore riffs with a strong noise rocky influence - out of tune, heavily distorted guitars. Features occasional masses of noise, extremely depressive, forlorn ballads (!!!Death Reqiuem!!!), complex 20-minutes long compositions and makes you die for it while listening.

DakhaBrakha - Na Mezhi [2009]

Genre: Traditional Ukrainian Folk/Neofolk/Freak Folk

Tracklisting:
1. Ой, за лісочком
2. Над Дунаєм
3. Весна
4. Вальс
5. Ванюша
6. Заїнька
7. Дівка-Марусечка

DakhaBrakha is an Ukrainian collective playing some traditional neofolk, with a big dose of experimental chaos. Sounds kinda weird? So it is. Tribal drums, many types of string instruments playing in the background (some of the songs have their structure similar to post-rock - building the atmosphere and so on), that characteristic style of singing... To be honest, I'm pretty keen on this kind of ethno folk music and I was very impressed while listening to this album for first time, probably after getting bored with some averages like Hagalaz' Runedance, The Moon and the Nightspirit or other neofolk bands. At first I thought it's only a first impression but soon I realized that Na Mezhi is actually a grower and now I like it even more. If I was made to judge - one of the best CDs released this year so far.

Hetane - Machines [2009]

Genre: Industrial Rock/Trip-Hop

Tracklisting:
1. Hard
2. Machines
3. Brabrasen
4. Wild Woman
5. Monopoly
6. Nienawidzimy
7. White-legz
8. God-foresaken
9. Find the Lost Ghosts
10. Instinct
11. Sirenmoon
12. Wild Woman (bathroom version)

New Hetane's album is one of my favourites released this year so far. Energetic trip-hop with many industrial metal elements fits me great. Powerful vocal of the lead singer plus strong industrial atmosphere makes this album pretty memorable.

Various - Depth Perceptions Vol. 1 [2008]

Genre: Ambient Dub/Dub Techno

Tracklisting:
01. Decoside - Storm Slowly
02. Biodub - Polar Ice
03. Havantepe - Grey Days
04. Dubatech - All Those Yesterdays
05. Quantec - Particular Reversion
06. Lossless - Surface Exposure
07. Dominique Jacquinet - Absolute Expectation
08. Aku Aku - 7H AM People
09. Atheus - Basic Reaction
10. Grit - Homage

Depth Perceptions Vol. 1 is a pretty nice ambient dub CD, compiling awesome gems of dub techno underground. Some of the artists even don't have their Last.fm profiles. Though, the selection of the songs is easily great, making Depth Perceptions a nice, chill-out release.

Paavoharju - Yhä hämärää [2005]

Genre: Avant Folk/Dream Pop/Electronic/Freak Folk/Lo-Fi/Psychedelic Folk

Tracklisting:
1 Ikuisuuden Maailma (5:02)
2 Valo Tihkuu Kaiken Läpi (4:01)
3 Kuu Lohduttaa Huolestuneita (3:49)
4 Syvyys (2:51)
5 Puhuri (3:13)
6 Ilmaa Virtaa (2:48)
7 Aamuauringon Tuntuinen (3:57)
8 Vitivalkoinen (1:39)
9 Kuljin Kauas (4:02)
10 On Yhä Hämärää (3:18)
11 Musta Katu (3:55)

Paavoharju is actually main representative of all those Finnish forest folk bands. And it's totally fair - I've heard quite lots of other bands and I have to say that none of them is able to catch up with this CD. Whole that dreamy, psychedelic atmosphere, lovely tunes, wonderful vocals makes this album one of the best in its genre.

19. Preview of Hell 01:49
20. Illogic 01:27
21. Whip 01:34
22. Worst Case Scenario 01:58

No doubt Nasum is one of the contemporary grindcore legends. Has everything that good grind has - ultra-fast heavy riffs, extreme tempos, also we can see some influence of hardcore punk... One of my favourites in this genre.

Sascha Funke - Mango [2008]

Genre: Minimal Techno

Tracklisting:
01. Mango
02. We Are Facing The Sun
03. Feather
04. Take A Chance With Me
05. Summer Rain
06. Double Checked
07. Lotre (Mehr Fleisch)
08. Chemin Des Figons
09. The Fortune Cookie Symphony

Actually, this album is one of the better things from the last year. It's really nice melodic minimal techno stuff. To show some proof - have you seen the film 'Berlin Calling'? Yeah, this one about Berlin club music, where Paul Kalkbrenner was starring. He also made the whole soundtrack for this - except for the one song - it was Sascha Funke's Mango. No doubt the best track on his album, by its great chord progression obviously has something common with Paul's music.

Catz 'N Dogz - Stars of Zoo [2008]

Genre: Minimal Techno/Tech-House/Tribal House

Tracklisting:
1. Intro
2. Sunset In The East (featuring dOP [The Nature Boys’ Edit])
3. Omanko
4. 2
5. SF
6. Kill The Frog
7. Confused (featuring Monty Luke)
8. My Zoo Is Your Zoo
9. Skit nr2
10. Yes They Still Play Casio (featuring Mathias Kaden)
11. Kaniani
12. Sunset In The East (featuring dOP [Vinyl Version]

Catz 'N Dogz is a Polish minimal techno duo, earlier known as 3 Channels. Under the new name they've decided to release a long play last year. Stars of Zoo consists of rather static fusion of original techno and house (tech-house) played on a high level. Their music has something common with the genre that has origin in Africa and South America called tribal house - it's a form of house music focused rather on a rhythm than on the melody, using beats sounding like some African drums. Though, Stars of Zoo features many melodic aspects and elements, such as some short string parts or choruses.

La Roux - In For The Kill (Skream Let's Get Ravey Mix) [2009]

Okay, I know - La Roux's new CD sucks totally, but this remix has almost nothing common with the original. Original is more poppy and dynamic and the vocal line doesn't fit the background. The remix is... well-thought-out. Deep baselines on the first plan and nice dubstep beats makes this song one of my favourites of 2009.

I'm kinda wound up with dubstep recently, mainly because I've just returned from Coki's gig in my city - the genre at its best. Expect some more albums kept in these stylistics soon.

Boxcutter - Arecibo Message [2009]

Genre: IDM/Dubstep/Acid Techno

Tracklisting:
1. Sidetrak (4:03)
2. Mya Rave v2 (4:10)
3. Arecibo Message (4:25)
4. BSpacebass (3:53)
5. Arcadia 202 (3:13)
6. Old School Astonomy (4:32)
7. A Familiar Sound (4:34)
8. Free House Acid (4:14)
9. Sidereal Day (3:29)
10. Otherside Remix (Earth Is My Spaceship) (4:10)
11. Lamp Post Funk (2:47)
12. Kab 28 (2:50)
13. A Cosmic Parent (2:47)

Okay, this time something more positive and not so dark. Third album by Irish dubstep producer Boxcutter for me is fairly more enjoyable than the previous one Glyphic, which was more experimental and less melodic. Arecibo Message has strong acid techno influence and lots of good bass (Spacebass!) which makes the album more 'fluent'

Karjalan Sissit - Fucking Whore Society [2009]

Genre: Martial Industrial/Dark Ambient/Industrial/Noise

Tracklisting:
A1 Jävla Psykopat Kärring (Värre Än En Horunge)
A2 Asuntovaunussa Huoraamassa
A3 Slödderet Maste Bort
A4 Loppuun Nussittu Avioliitto
A5 Har Du Horat Runt Pa Campingen?
B1 Nyt Tulee Kirvestä; Perkele
B2 Rautakeppi
B3 Hyi Helevetti (You Are A Whore And Will Always Be)
B4 Skitfolk
B5 Knulldate
B6 Solmu On Solmittu

Industrial serie's next position. All this overcrowding of industrial music on this blog is mainly caused by that I'm preparing a short.. let's name it 'tutorial' about it. Just don't having anything else on my mp3 player than industrial. ;d But it doesn't mean I post some average albums. The new Karjalan Sissit's Fucking Whore Society really scared me while listening to it last night. It is less neoclassical than for example their self-titled debut. It's began to be more dark ambient with many industrial noises in the background. When you listen to the opening track all that kettle-banging makes you genuinely feel as if you were in old factory.

Xotox - Silberfieber [2002]

Genre: Power Noise

Tracklisting:
01. Intro
02. Eisenkiller
03. The Dark
04. White Widdow
05. Punish
06. Null
07. So You've Ruined Your Life
08. End Of All Fear
09. Zweischicht
10. Obsession (Dark Desires)
11. Feed Your Enemies

I'm rather not into power noise, but this album is quite close to the idea of harsh EBM, that's why I like it. Big intensity of heavy and abbrassive beats (Null!) makes this music extremely hiperactive.

Coil - Scatology [1984]

Genre: Old School Industrial/Experimental

Tracklisting:
01. Ubu Noir
02. Panic
03. At The Heart Of It All
04. Tenderness Of Wolves
05. The Spoiler
06. Clap
07. Restless Day
08. Aqua Regis
09. Solar Lodge
10. The Sewage Workers Birthday Party

By some strange coincidence I appear to know a lot of great albums from the year 1984. For example, Cocteau Twins' Treasure and EP The Spangle Maker, Current 93's Dogs Blood Rising, self-titled by Run-D.M.C., Swans' Cop, Talk Talk's It's My Life and many others. One of them is debut album by well-known industrial band Coil - Scatology. Actually, it sounds like the beginnings of the style they've developed on their popular, industrial classic CD Horse Rotorvator. We see many similarities with the following album - there are more ambient tracks like At the Heart of It All, and at the same time things more catchy like Panic (equivalent of The Anal Staircase from Horse Rotorvator). Though the songs seem quite unfinished, I really appreciate the sound they've obtained on this album.

1 The Needs Of The Body (12:11)
2 I Would Like To Be ... (10:23)
3 Past (11:58)
4 No Future (13:29)

The best words to describe this CD is Industrial Noise Metal. Life consists of massive walls of noise powered by electronic percussion mixed so that it sounds like some death-black-lo-fi-industrial-fucking-metal stuff. THIS is the power!

2. The Golden Age Of Telekinesis (17:32)
3. The Part Of Me Which Is That Part In You Is Now Dead (16:35)
4. Yon Assassin Is My Equal (17:06)

Squad of industrial legend Nurse With Wound on this CD is Steven Stapleton, Andrew Liles and David Tibet - then it has to be at least good. And that's how it really is - even better. The Surveillance Lounge is some experimental stuff with a lot of noises recorded in a convention of dark ambient. Many elements of power electronics and such makes this album some kind of industrial.

Another cool minimal techno, this time from German producer Rajko Müller, aka Isolée. Album We Are Monster is kept in microhouse stylistics, with gentle, not aggresive beats, many loops, great depth and nice harmonies. What else to say? Check the track called My Hi-Matik, for me the best on this CD.

Pretty strange album... Kind of chaotic deathcore with grindcore parts and loooots of great breakdowns - and at the same time it's pretty easy-listening. Plus woman with balls on vocals - she makes all the screams and growls and in addition she has powerful clean voice able to move mountains.

Bagheera are completely unknown British psychedelic folk band. They've released only one EP so far - I couldn't even found cover of it, so you've got their picture instead. Their music really stands out from all those myspace amateur bands, the folky compositions are well played and don't fall behind e.g. Fleet Foxes latest album. Hollow Home features nice, folky vocals and a bit of gentle psychedelia.

10. (something)
11. Lost Wisdom Pt. 2
12. Stone’s Ode

Woo, finally we've got the new Phil Elverum's album, released under the name of Mount Eerie. It's no longer folky doleful-boredom like the last CD Lost Wisdom but some drony and noisy experimental stuff, something like expansion of the idea from the No Flashlight album. The first track, Wind’s Dark Poem somehow reminds the last year's EP Black Wooden Ceiling Opening with similar noise rocky atmosphere.

Paul Kalkbrenner is a legend on Berlin's techno scene. He became more popular after a film about Berlin club music 'Berlin Calling' with him starring (plus he made great soundtrack). He's early works (album Superimpose - maybe somewhen later I'll post it) are mainly some typical techno. From this album on (Zeit) he's creating his own style, making his music more minimal.

The new start

As the blog title suggest, it's going to be all about my new favourites and albums I find somehow cool, great and such. From minimal techno and sludge, through industrial, post-hardcore and drone, ending on some electro stuff. Paraphrasing the famous Boards of Canada album's title - children have the right to music!
